School Wide Motivation

Picher-Cardin's Idea ( End of School Party and Weekly Reward Assembly)

The brilliant staff at Picher-Cardin recognize that having a school wide motivation system is important. Thanks for sharing!!

The Picher-Cardin Elementary School Reading Plus Lab has a variety of rewards for motivating students to make at least a 70% or above and to do re-reads on Guided Reading lessons.  In addition to Guided Reading, all lessons need to be at 70% or above and students are required to chart independently to receive stamps on their charts.  Every time a student receives three stamps, they write their name on a ticket which is placed in a bucket.  Each Monday during our Great Expectations assembly, Mrs. Pace draws five tickets and reads the names of the five winners.  They get to choose a prize.

Their folders are stamped each time they score well on their lessons. The students at Picher-Cardin are working hard toward a goal. Students who have at least 21 stamps will be able to attend an end of year party.

  • 21 Stamps: a ticket and a free pass to an end-of-semester party which is held in the gym and includes games, snacks, drinks, a sock-hop and/or a movie.  They also receive a big prize of their choice.
